On resignation

I recently quit a job I've worked for several years - the exact number I'm a little disheartened to admit. We'll just say longer than my undergraduate + graduate years combined (which for me was 5 years, because I'm sort of a smarty). It's been an interesting, rather liberating transition. I feel lighter. I feel grateful for the release of what had become a very stressful, difficult, conflictual situation. I'm glad to no longer be commuting, traveling, and responding to numerous emails. And then in other ways, some things haven't changed. I still live in the same place. I still have my faults and worries and struggles. But I feel resigned - not just resigned to leave, but resigned to be better. To make some necessary changes and to trust that the best is yet to be.
